California State Polytechnic University Pomona, Student Services Building

The Student Services Building (formerly Administration Replacement Building) provides support services to prospective and enrolled students as well as university faculty and staff. It houses a large portion of the university administration including student academic and administrative affairs as well as university advancement and the President’s office. It is designed as two concrete framed wings with glazed facades, connected structurally by a single framed still roof.

The signature 2-acre roof, which sweeps high and low across the site, reaching a maximum height of roughly 54 feet, gives the building a modern, “spaceship” sort of character. The roof brands the building both as a campus landmark and a memorable place of arrival and includes a KPFF designed linear vegetated bio-filtration which captures and treats all stormwater onsite including building runoff. The site is developed with new walkways, drives, landscape including stormwater management best practices, hardscape, lighting, utilities infrastructure, and signage.
