KPFF provided structural engineering services for this new, 172,000-SF addition to the existing hospital. This tower has a 17,400-SF concrete slab on grade lower level, which occupies the north half of the building footprint.
This $100 million addition was in response to the increase in patient volume observed by the administrators and staff and necessary to increase the efficiency of service provided. The new tower adds 70 new private patient rooms, aligns new ICU beds with the existing ICU and provides 48 new med/surg beds.
In addition, 44,000-SF of the existing building was fully renovated. The renovation included a new emergency room, six operating rooms, and intensive care unit and three new/cath labs and diagnostic imaging rooms. The space also contains an administration office and conference spaces.
Each operating room is outfitted with the latest imaging technology, which recently received approval from the FDA and will make Norton Brownsboro one of only twelve hospitals in the nation to have these advanced devices.
