Structural Engineering
Residential
KPFF provided structural engineering services for an existing Upper East Side townhome that was gutted and enlarged vertically and horizontally to enable the new owner’s vision for upscale urban living.
A new flat-plate concrete structure, chosen to limit the structural depth and maximize ceiling heights within the maximum building height allowed by the Zoning Resolution, was constructed from within the existing building shell. The front and rear balconies were also incorporated, as well as extensive recessed slabs for light fixture mounting, and were extensively coordinated with the interior architecture and MEP systems to maximize usable space on each floor.
