KPFF civil engineering helped develop the expansion of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) West Sacramento headquarters expansion (275,000 square foot) facility.
The new facility is expected to be completed in mid-2021 and will create more than 200,000 square foot of rentable office space available for lease in CalSTRS’ current riverfront building. The expansion will have a zero-waste certification and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum rating. Additionally, the building will feature 80 percent onsite renewable energy, enabling CalSTRS to achieve a zero net energy (ZNE) facility designation.
