KPFF provided structural engineering design services for the Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Phase II project, a new expansion of the current Saint Alphonsus Medical Center (SAMC) campus in Nampa, Idaho. The total project area is approximately 238,000 sf with 6 stories of hospital expansion adjacent to existing buildings including inpatient and outpatient care facilities, a central plant facility, core lab, emergency department, surgery department, pharmacy, and medical imaging. The building is designed as a Risk Category IV Essential Facility, designed for both vertical and horizontal future expansions. The main building frame is composed of conventional composite floor deck with structural steel framing on concrete spread footings and mats. The building lateral system utilizes Special Steel Moment Frame and Side Plate Sure Frame proprietary connections.
